Summary
[edit]DescriptionCity Temple - geograph.org.uk - 255657.jpg |
English: City Temple, Hessle Road, Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Former City Temple at corner of Madeley Street and Hessle Road, the former Primitive Methodist Chapel with Sunday school to rear. The church was designed by William Freeman in white brick with stone dressings and built in 1880–81 for £8,200 — the most costly Primitive chapel in Hull. Romanesque revival style with two substantial buttressed towers with pyramidal roofs and a rose window between. It closed in 1933 and was taken over in 1934 by the Elim Pentecostal Church who renamed it City Temple. It closed again in 1984 when City Temple moved to Princes Avenue. |
