These palms fan out along a single plane. This species belongs to the family Strelitziaceae but as can be seen when this is compared with the flowers of S. nicolai, this cannot be the same species. It is in fact Ravenala madagascariensis en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravenala_madagascariensis Wikipedia says the plane is roughly east-west. All I can say is that that is extremely rough. |
