IMG_5922 <a href="http://www.museu-caramulo.net" rel="noreferrer nofollow">www.museu-caramulo.net</a> A few years after the presentation of the 15-Six João de Lacerda bought one to travel and participate in events, notably the Monte Carlo Rally in 1951. A year later, accompanied by Jaime Azarujinha he again took part, this time in a different Traction Avant, this event turned out to be one of the toughest ever. Of the 328 cars that lined up to start, only 163 made it across the finish line. Of the 15 to finish without penalties João de Lacerda was one of them. He would go on to partake in the 1953 and 1954 editions with the same car which granted him the ACP Trophy. After several years of work both of João de Lacer's Citroëns couldn't be restored, leading to the purchase of another one in France which went on to be restored in Portugal. As a reward official entities moved the famous "HF-16-83" plate the car which partook in the 1952, 53 and 54 Monte Carlo Rally's bore to this new one. |
