Description
English: Marsh Harrier Circus aeruginosus, Serbia
Српски / srpski: Eja močvarica D.t. 43-55 cm. Rasprostranjena je u većem delu Evrope, delovima centralne i zapadne Azije, Bliskog Istoka, Male Azije i severne Afrike. Selica je koja zimu provodi u podsaharskoj Africi i Indiji. Naseljava močvare, bare, plavna područja reka, tršćake na ribnjacima i kanalima i druga vlažna staništa okružena otvorenim ili poljoprivrednim područjima, najčešće u nizijskim predelima. Gnezda gradi u trsci ili drugoj visokoj priobalnoj vegetaciji. Hrani se različitim vrstama manjih sisara, ptica, gmizavaca i vodozemaca, a povremeno jede leševe. Ugrožava je gubitak staništa, trovanje pesticidima, uništavanje tršćaka u kojima se gnezdi i stradanje na seobi. U Srbiji je redovna gnezdarica, čija se populacija procenjuje na 260-320 gnezdećih parova (Puzović et al 2009).
