Summary
[edit]DescriptionCinnamon Spouter & Cinnamon West Geyser (mid-afternoon, 4 June 2014) 1.jpg |
English: Cinnamon Spouter is an active hydrothermal feature in the Black Sand Basin of Yellowstone's Upper Geyser Basin. The name is in reference to the reddish-brown coloration of its geyserite. It manifested as a geyser in the late 1980s under the former tourist boardwalk - an old, rectangular, boardwalk post hole is visible in the eastern geyserite buildup. The geyser was initially fissure-shaped with a bulb, but it has since widened into a subcircular basin.
Its behavior originally varied from perpetual spouting to having episodic geyser eruptions that were long in duration with long intervals. In recent years, it has remained a perpetual spouter. In 1998, researchers measured a water temperature of 75° Celsius and a pH of 8.3 |
