Apareció a una profundidad de dos metros, en el transcurso de unas obras para el alcantarillado de una casa del paseo de la Victoria, cerca del camino de Almodóvar, Cordoba Surtidor de fuente con forma de animal cuadrúpedo, identificado como una cierva. Excepto las patas, la pieza está hueca, abriéndose en el vientre un orificio en el que encajaría la tubería de conducción hasta la boca del animal, por donde saldría el agua, formando el surtidor. Gran parte de la superficie, está decorada mediante la técnica del grabado, que dibuja así la gualdrapa del animal. La pieza estaría asimismo dorada, a juzgar por los restos que quedan en el surco del grabado. Aunque la cierva del Museo Arqueológico Nacional es más pequeña y menos estilizada, presenta claras similitudes con otras dos piezas aparecidas en el siglo XVI entre las ruinas del palacio de Madinat al-Zahra. Una de ellas se encuentra en el Museo Arqueológico de Córdoba. La segunda, desaparecida a principios del siglo XIX del Monasterio de Guadalupe, se conserva desde 1997 en el Museo Nacional de Qatar. Algunos investigadores opinan que esta pieza pudo importarse del Egipto fatimí. Sin embargo, su hallazgo en la provincia de Córdoba y las grandes semejanzas con los ciervos de Córdoba y Qatar hacen pensar que los tres objetos se realizaron, si no en el mismo taller, al menos en una misma área geográfica de al-Andalus Museo Arqueologico Nacional Madrid |
