Church of the former monastery of Văleni, located in the eponymous town of Vălenii de Munte (Prahova county, Romania). Originally built in 1680, with subsequent renovations and alterations ca. 1737-1746 and 1802-1809. The photo captures the aspect of the church after the restoration works carried out by the Historic Monuments Commitee (Comisiunea Monumentelor Istorice) in 1925-6. The church was seriously damaged by the earthquake of November 1940, and almost completely destroyed by a larger one in 1977. The current building on the site is a largely modern reconstruction, reusing the surviving sculptural elements of the old church.
