Description
English: It was a harsh winter in Chukhloma (-30°C). But this did not prevent a scientific group from the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences from drilling bottom sediments from the ice. In the photo, a team with an ice drill and a simple plummet measure the depth of the lake on a grid in search of a suitable place to drill.
