SPRING CATALOGUE OF SEEDS, BULBS AND PLANTS FOR 1915- 89 GANXAS-We Grow 20 Acres of Ttese. The very finest varieties only. Out of a thousand kinds, these we offer are the very best. Cannas are now the most popular and most magnificent of all summer blooming plants for brilliant bed- ding and massing. We have selected these varieties we offer after careful tests of hundreds of sorts, and our customers can rely upon them as being the most magnificent and desirable in every respect, combining large^ flowers of great brilliancy with beautiful foliage, free blooming and easy growing qualities. The following: three Carinas are grown for the beauty of their rich iuxurlaut foliage. Musafolia—This is the finest foliage Canna yet seen, with enormous Musa-like leaves, 3x5 feet, of a dark green, bronze-tinted color, the edge of the 'leaves being beauti- fully banded with bronze-purple. In size and beauty of foliage it is a revelation, and makes a clump or single specimen plant for the lawn which no other foliage plant can approach. Attains a height of eight feet, beautiful and symmetrical at every stage of growth. 20c. each," 3 for 50c.: $1.50 per, doz. Black Musafolia—Like the above, but with maroon black: ieaves. 20c. each: 3 for 50c.: $1 50 per dozen. Kainbow—Each leaf is beautifully variegated with pink- scarlet, orange, gray, green, etc. The foliage keeps its color ail through the season : either for open ground or pots. In habit of growth it is superb. It hardly reaches the height of 3 feet, and is compact, with numerous leaves, which are wide, wavy, and graceful. 30c. each ; if or $l.oo. Giant Orchid-Flowered Carinas* These are the tall growing sorts with immense blooms of great beauty and known as Italian Cannas. Alletnania—Enormous flowers, 6 inches across, petals 2)4 inches wide. Bright yellow and orange-crimson, beau- tifully spotted and variegated. Finest spotted sort. Possibly this is the most showy individual flower among- Cannas. 4 feet. , . . Indiana-4 feet. Color is a glistening golden orange dainti- ly marked and striped with-red. Single blossoms are often 7 inches across. Like Wyo, but has green foliage. Pennsylvania—6 feet. The flowers are pure deep scarlet, ot immense size. A most excellent sort. Pacific Beauty —Very heavy, black foliage, often finely striped and variegated. Flowers orange crimson. A * trulv magnificent sort, and best of its color. 4 feet. Uncle Sam—Glorious deep, rich, fiery-red of marvelous beauty. Extra large and fine blossoms. 5.feet. < Wyoming—(7 feet)—This is one of the most majestic Can- nas in the Orchid-flowering class, with the additional attraction of having a luxuriant growth- of rich, purple foliage. Great plumes of massive orange-colored blos- soms. Except in color it is much like King Humbert. 20c. each; $2.00 per doz.; the 6 for $1.00. MIXED CANNAS—For Large Show Beds. A mixture of the finest large flowering kinds which will go well together, and make a most magnificent bed or bor- der of bright colors. We can thoroughly recommend. Tall Mixed—All the finest kinds that grow 4 feet or more in height, $1-00 per dozen ; $5-00 per 100.. Dwarf Mixed—Best sorts under 4 feet. Fine strong roots . si-00 per dozen : $5.00 per 100. CANNA SEED Extra Fine Mixed. These wonderful Cannas, dwarf and compact i n growth, with highly ornamen- tal foliage, produce their magnificent clusters o f brilliant blossoms all summer and fall from spring sown seed. They are simply marvelous, showing colors and variegations ranging from al- most white, to brilliant scarlet and dark maroon, rosy pink, yel- low, orange, buff, lemon, striped, bronze, tinted and variegated
