Title
Children reading in classroom, ca. 1915
Description

As part of the their outreach efforts, the Library's children's department staff visited local schools for story hours. The library also provided classrooms with "school duplicate collections," a selection of 20 books which could be checked out to students (see spl_shp_222182_056), and reference materials for staff. The location of the classroom shown here is unknown.

Teacher appears to be the same person as in this photo from the Walla Walla School, later Horace Mann School, and the cursive handwriting on the blackboard also looks like it came from the same hand. Different room, identical desks; there's a pretty good chance that is where this photo was taken, though of course some chance to the contrary.
