Summary

[edit]
Description Chemical footprints of target compounds in European streams. (A–C) Maps showing which sites exhibit no risk (green), chronic risk (yellow) or acute risk (purple) according to risk thresholds introduced by Malaj et al. (2014) for (A) algae, (B) crustacean and (C) fish. For acute risks the threshold is ∑TU = 0.1. For chronic risks, the thresholds are ∑TUalgae = 0.02, ∑TUcrustacean = 0.001 and ∑TUfish = 0.01. (D–F) Stacked bar plots of the number of compounds contributing to the threshold exceedance when the TUs of all detected compounds per sample were added cumulatively with increasing value for (D) algae, (E) crustacean and (F) fish.
