[letter to signature appears to be in another handwriting]
Senate Chamber
Jan 4th 1865
Dear Sir,
I hasten to acknowledge your letter with its enclosure in Arabic, which I regret that I am unable to read.
I am looking forward to an early opportunity of reading the translation at the Department and shall take measure to have it printed.
I am glad that you are not too far distant to see that the cause in which you take an interest is growing stronger with every day and that slavery is near its end.
I beg you will accept my thanks for your kindness in directing my attention to this most interesting correspondence and believe me dear Sir
Ever Yours,
Charles Sumner
