| Description | Although Matsuyama is not actually mentioned in Botchan, the novel is said to take place in this city. In the story the main character, Botchan, visits an onsen almost every night. It is generally agreed upon that Natsume was inspired by Dōgo onsen. In any case Botchan is a must-read if you plan to go to Matsuyama, although the writer is not particularly positive about the city. |
