[edit]DescriptionChangunarayan Temple Changunarayan Bhaktapur Nepal Rajesh Dhungana (8).jpg |
English: It is located at the top of the famous Doladri Danda of Changunarayan Municipality, about 17 km east of Kathmandu, i.e. about 5 km north of Bhaktapur city. This temple was established and built by the Lichhavi king Mandev in 521 BC. Changunarayan has become a unique example of woodwork. There are various types of tundals with carved eyes, wings, sheep horns and the shape of a winged horse and various incarnations of Vishnu. A magnificent stone statue of Chaturbahu Narayan is installed in the sanctum sanctorum.
It is mentioned in the inscription in the Changunarayan temple premises that the Licchavi king Mandev was happy to oppress the feudal lords of the east and west. The paintings and art carvings on the wood and stone of the temple, as a unique example of Lichhavi-era idols, symbolize Narayan and Buddhism. In this temple complex, there are various idols of Garuda, Vaikuntha, Narasimha, Vishwarupa, Sridhar Vishnu and Trivikram. There are also Nateshwar temple, Chhinnamasta temple, Kanti Bhairav's temple and Laxminarayan's idols. Although Changunarayana is the center of faith of the devotees of Vaishnavism, it has become the center of faith of all Hindus and Buddhists. It is clear from the inscriptions and copperplates engraved here that Narayan has been worshiped as a deity since time immemorial. A big fair is held here on Kattik Shukla Ekadashi. Changunarayan's pilgrimage takes place in every festival in the month of January. It is customary to worship the idol of Khai Narayan in the name of Madhav Narayan on the bank of the nearby Shalin River. According to the genealogy of this temple, the name of this mountain has become Doladri due to the movement of a demon named Asura. Vishnu was hiding in this mountain. At the same time, Shivaji came and stayed as if he had not been shaken, and there Kileshwar originated. As it originated from the base of the Champa tree, it is said that the name of Champak, Chapanarayan, Garuda Narayan was changed to Changunarayan. It is said that a king named Haridatta built a temple of Chhinnamasta Adi Dev and Changunarayan here and started worshiping them. The language genealogy also mentions that King Vishnu Gupta built the Changunarayana temple at Delagiri with a golden roof and established Changugram. According to the Devmala genealogy, when the eagle took the snake directly from this place, sweat came from the idol of the eagle on which Vishnu had ascended. There is even a belief that even the bite of a snake does not affect the place where Changunarayan's gajur is seen. According to the same genealogy, when the head fell to the ground in the year 844 BS, the kings of the three cities had a bad fight. King Haridatta also built the temple of Chhinnamasta as per his vision. When this temple was dilapidated, in 705 AD, Gangarani built a temple and put a gold-roofed guthi on the roof. During the reign of Ran Bahadur, his wife built a four-story house, which was rebuilt after the 90-year-old earthquake and is being rebuilt by the 20762 earthquake. The temple complex is full of temples in a very artistic style. It is also an attractive tourist destination. |
