| Description | Paired polytene chromosome 4 of Chironomus halophilus (2n=8) from brackish Kleiner Kiel, Germany. Well developed nucleolus (N) at left telomere. Two Balbiani rings (BR) exhibit loops of chromatids indicating intense transcription. Right telomere (R). Squash of larval salivary gland, stained with acetic carmine-orcein * Gepaartes Polytänchromosom 4 von Chironomus halophilus (2n=8) aus dem Brackwasser des Kleinen Kiel. Gut entwickelter Nukleolus (N) am linken Telomer. Zwei Balbiani-Ringe (BR) entfalten Chromatiden-Schlaufen als Zeichen starker Transkription. Quetschpräparat einer Speicheldrüse aus dem letzten Larvenstadium, gefärbt mit Karmin-Orcein-Essigsäure. |
