Fig. 29 Chain belt drive

An early form of belt drive, this was a simple single-link chain similar to a block chain, with rubber blocks moulded around it. They were used by early car engines to drive waterpumps, dynamos etc.

The modern replacement is the vee-belt: rubber moulded over fabric core.
