Description
English: AWM caption : A window launching machine, Mk 1a fitted into the bomb bays of a Handley Page Halifax B III bomber aircraft. The machine was fitted to the aircraft using two 1000 pound (454 kilo) bomb winches, having been previously loaded with bundles of window strips. A seven way jettison plug was then connected and screwed up. The dispensing chute, protruded through a slot cut into the bomb bay doors, and was positioned after the bomb bay doors were closed. The window launching machine was designed to automatically launch packets of window strips at varying speeds from Short Stirling III and Handley Page Halifax B III bomber aircraft.
