English: Central promenade, Morecambe View from the Winter Gardens balcony, looking towards the Stone Jetty.
The Dome (theatre/hall) is at right centre. Beyond that was Bubbles (indoor and outdoor swimming pool, now demolished), which is about to be occupied by a temporary fairground. In the background, the RNLI hovercraft station is under construction. The war memorial is at left centre. This area was occupied by the Super Swimming Stadium (1936 - 1975) and is due for redevelopment. |
