| Description | Built in 1842 and the late 19th Century, these townhouses demonstrate the change in scale and style of vernacular residential architecture in Pennsylvania and the eastern United States in general during the century they were constructed in, with the older house being shorter with a side gable roof, relatively simple detailing, and a front canopy at the front entrance that was added later, and the newer house being taller, with a mansard roof featuring a bracketed cornice, decorative window headers, and a side oriel window on the second floor. The houses are contributing structures in the Central Bethlehem Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and expanded to include additional buildings in 1988. |
