I think this was taken in 1991. I would have been 16 at the time, and was helping out on the Gwili Railway's stand inside the shed. The carriage in the foreground is Taff Vale Railway 220, which was restored by staff and pupils at Brynteg Comprehensive School, and which has been based at the Gwili Railway since its restoration. I think - but am not sure, that it is alongside a Taff Vale engine, but others may know more than me. The depot at Cathays is now just a memory, and Cardiff University's Maindee campus now occupies the site. More information about TVR220 can be found on the Gwili Railway Vintage Carriage Group's website at gvcg.co.uk/the-collection/#TVRCoach220 |
