Description

GRANOLLERS - Campanar i finestra de l´església de Sant Esteve.

L´església parroquial de Sant Esteve era un dels edificis més notables de la població. Durant les excavacions fetes entre 1940 i 1942, quant s´inicià la canstrucció de l´església actual, es va poder precisar l´àmbit de l´església romànica del segle XII, de la qual va restar intacte fins 1936 un portal romànic, l´anomenat portal petit. Aquesta església anava des de la ratlla del campanar fins a l´inici del presbiteri de l´església gòtica. L`àmbit de l´església romànica i el de la gòtica eren els peus de l´església actual, entre el campanar que era a l´esquerra de la porta principal, i el mur oposat al presbiteri, on ara hi ha la porta principal.

La llargada del temple gòtic equivalia a l´amplada del temple actual, però les dades de la seva construcció són imprecises, es creu que es va construir entre el 1480 i entrat el segle XVI.
