Text Appearing Before Image:
Seeds of Rocky Mountain Wild Flowers. "A Weed is a flower out of place;" Recognizing the beauty of many of our Western Wild-flowers and believing that many of them would be considered a welcome addition to the garden in localities where not so plentiful, we made arrangement for the collection of seeds of the handsomest varieties which we herewith offer to our friends at a price entirely disproportionat e to the cost of collection, A selection of a few packets of these seeds would be a neat souvenir to send to Eastern friends. Aquilegia Cereulea. Colorado's Famous Columbine. The State Flower. Larger and handsomer than any of the cultivated species. Anemone Pa ens.—One of our prettiest wild flowers; erect purple blossoms. After flowering forms dense plumy head as beautiful as the flow- ers themselves. Clematis Ligusticifolia. A handsome and quick growing vine, bearing innu- merable closely clustered, small white flowers, followed by feathery balls of seed, the last hanging on until late in the Winter. Clematis Douglassi.—Of the same genus as the last, but a low shrub, with large, blue, urn-shaped flowers. Cleome Integrefolia. — Showy pink flowers borne in a profusion of long racemes, on a bushy plant. Cleomella Augustifolia. Flowers similar to last but paler pink—almost white. Euphorbia Marginata.— Introduced some years ago and now generally grown. A very pretty foliage plant, of good form; green leaves mar- gined with white. Delphinium Occidentale. —A peculiarly prolific species of the Larkspur the numerous flowers are arranged in com- pound racemes. Color, al- most white to dark purple. FraseraSpeciosa.—An oddity; called bysome the "Monument Plant." Grows tall and in ob- elisk form, the columns of green set off byomni- covering white flowers. Very novel and attractive Gentiana.—Of the many fine Gentians native to the Rockies, this is the very handsomest. The petals are not included and hidden by the sepals, but form showy blue cups two inches in depth. Iris Missouriensis.—A pretty relative of the Flag, or Flower de Luce; bluish-purple with white markings. Linum Perenne,—The delicate blue flax- flower; a dainty addition to the garden. Hentzelia Ornata.—A sightly plant with a beautiful yellow flower; well worth glowing, despite the un-pleasantly rough foliage. Nuphar Polysesolum.—The yellow Pond Lily of the mountain lakes.
Text Appearing After Image:
ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLUMBINE. Thermopsis Montana—A perennial with pretty foliage and long spikes of bright yellow, pea-like blossoms. Very pretty. Oenothera—The beautiful Evening Primrose. Bears fragrant pale yellow flowers, opening only at evening. Very beautiful. Physocapus Torreyi—Rocky Mountain Snow Ball. A beautiful low shrub, with white flow- ers in umbels as is the ordinary Snow Ball; smaller, but not less handsome. Ribes Aureum.—Flowering Currant— A pretty shrub with a profusion of yellow Fuchsia- like flowers; large, black and yellow fruit, sweet and edible. Yucca Augustilolia.—Spanish Bayonet—A handsome plant for lawns. Drascena-like need- le pointed foliage. Large spikes of white flow- ers, Known locally as Soap Weed. Five cents per packet or one packet each of Twenty=one varieties for Fifty cents.
