Castle Road
Summary
[edit]| Description |
English: Castle Road The B2191 as it heads out of Westham and is about to enter Pevensey. This new cut was added sometime in the 1950s/60s when the road was the A27 to by-pass the old High Street which ran up to the west gate of Pevensey Castle then followed the walls around the northern side of the castle which can be seen through the trees on the right. The road cuts through what was once Butchers Field an old holding field for livestock about to be slaughtered. The remnant has been a public open space since 2002. |
