Castle Hill, Lincoln - Vehicle

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Castle Hill, Lincoln - Vehicle A Ruston-Hornsby, one of around fifteen hundred built between 1919 and 1924. Ruston started out in 1840 making industrial equipment such as locomotives and steam shovels. On 11 September 1918, the company amalgamated with Richard Hornsby & Sons. After WWI the company diversified into car manufacture and two versions of the Ruston-Hornsby were made, the most powerful of which was the 20 hp model with a 3308 cc engine of their own manufacture. The cars were very heavy and extremely expensive. Two survivors, of which this is one, are retained by Siemens on the Lincoln site and this is the only one in running order. Note the Lincoln Imp mounted on the radiator cap.
