El castillo de Magaña se alza sobre un monte relativamente apartado de la localidad del mismo nombre, en la comarca de Tierras Altas y Valle Ter de la provincia de Soria. El castillo, construido en mampostería, está compuesto por un doble recinto en torno a la torre del homenaje, que es de origen bereber, siglos IX a XI, y por tanto muy anterior al resto del castillo. Esta torre forma parte de la red de grandes torres aisladas de origen bereber levantadas a lo largo del valle del Rituerto, como las de Masegoso, Trébago, Noviercas, Castellanos, La Pica o Aldealpozo. La torre conserva restos del almenado superior y algún ventanal con sillares labrados. El recinto interior es muy alto, de planta cuadrada, con la torre del homenaje en una de sus esquinas y cubos en las otras dos. El recinto exterior es mucho más bajo y de planta irregular, y cuenta con siete cubos repartidos por el perímetro del cerco. |
