Español: Ruinas del castillo medieval de Xivert. El Castillo de Xivert es una antigua fortaleza medieval construida en la cima de un monte de donde domina visualmente el llano de la Foia o valle del corredor de Alcalà y la sierra de Irta. En el castillo se aprecia la conservación de dos partes constructivas diferenciadas: la árabe y la cristiana, son dos castillos en uno. La construcción árabe comprende el recinto amurallado externo, obra de los siglos X–XI en la que destacan algunos grandes lienzos en tapial, con remates de merlones y que se abría por la puerta del Albácar. En su interior, se descubren todavía buenas muestras de arquitectura doméstica musulmana. Muy interesante es la inscripción árabe en uno de sus muros cuya traducción viene a decir "para el reencuentro con Dios". En la parte más alta del castillo islámico se construyó la fortaleza templaria, del siglo XIII . |
