[edit]DescriptionCastell Penrhyn, Bangor yn Ionawr 2023 - Castell Penrhyn, Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales in January 2023 05.png |
Cymraeg: Castell Penrhyn, Bangor yn Ionawr 2023. Codwyd gan deulu Seisnig, di-Gymraeg a oedd yn gysylltiedig â'r fasnach gaethweision, trwy Richard Pennant a'i deulu, yn ogystal ac â dioddefaint pobl leol oherwydd rôl y teulu Pennant yn y diwydiant llechi.
English: Castell Penrhyn, Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales in January 2023. Built by a very English, non-Welsh speaking family which mistreaded their workers.
Richard Pennant derived great wealth from his ownership of slave plantations in the West Indies and was a strong opponent of attempts to abolish the slave trade. His wealth was used in part for the development of the slate mining industry on Pennant's Caernarfonshire estates, and also for development of Penrhyn Castle.
