Title
Cast copper alloy ornamental badge or mount
Description
English: Cast copper alloy pendant or mount with floral decoration, probably dating from the early post-medieval period, i.e. c. AD1500-1700. The mount is circular in shape with a plain reverse and a decorated obverse. There is a small knop at the top which may be the remains of an attachment loop. However, there are also two small lugs on the reverse, slightly bent still, which may have attached the mount to a leather strap or belt. The obverse is decorated with a moulded floral decoration and it was possibly tinned or silver-washed, too. The floral decoration consists of a central five-petalled flower resembling a violet that is surraounded by a moulded foilage design.
