Title
Cast copper alloy buckle frame
Description
English: A complete cast copper alloy buckle frame of post-medieval date, that is c. 16th-17th century. The object is a double looped asymmetrical buckle which may have had some moulded decoration (lobed or knops) around the round and rectangular loop, but the metal has worn very thin and none of the decoration is clearly visible anymore. However, lobed protrusions also extend from either end of the strap bar.
A similar example can be seen in Whitehead, p.92, no.577 and is dated to circa 1575-1700.
