||
Description |
Ruth Sanger moved from Australia to London to work as assistant to Robert Race at the MRC Blood Group Research Unit and work for her Phd in 1946. This cartoon reveals her at work, fag in hand, at her desk scribbling notes about 'Xg and other rubbish...'; Ruth and her husband Robert Race discovered the first X-linked blood group antigen, Xg in the early 1960's. The books behind on the shelf include the 'Blood Group' text book that she and Race wrote in 1948, an Aussie-English phrase book and a 6 pack of McEwans lager. Archives & Manuscripts |
