Description Carte-de Visite of William R. McQuown (1842-1897), a mid-19th century American composer known for the "Cadet's March", "I Knew Her Heart in Silence Wept," and "Those Witching Eyes," among others, Tennessee State Library and Archives. Note: An inscription beneath the image reads, "4th Ky. Regt., C.S.A./ Col. Lewis Regt./ W. R. McQuown." An inscription on the back, "Leader of the 4th Ky. Regt and the 1st Tenn Band until the surrender in 1865. First cousin of Geo. S. Nichols."
