Français : La carrière appelé "Wiener Graben" était l'une des raisons principales de l'érection du camp. En moyenne 2000 déportés travaillaient tous les jours dans la carrière. Des milliers d'hommes y laissèrent leur vie. Au premier plan, l'escalier de la mort, où les déportés étaient battus à la montée et à la descente, avec à la montée, les déportés devaient porter de lourds blocs de granit. Dès 1943, il y avait dans la carrière une usine d'armements installée dans des baraques construites spécialement à cet effet au fond de la carrière. En haut de la falaise, bien qu'il n'est pas visible sur la photo, se trouve le camp de concentration, à environ 1 km. Contrairement à cette photo, il faut imaginer cette carrière, à l'époque de la deuxième guerre mondiale, sans végétation, du fait des travaux qui y étaient effectués et des piétinements des centaines de déportés sur le sol. Une image récente plus représentative de la carrière, prise en hiver, donne une idée plus exacte de la carrière à cette époque là.
