Description Public toilets at the High Street car park, Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight, seen in March 2011. From 1 April 2011, the Isle of Wight Council initially planned to close these toilets to save money as part of funding cuts by central government, it was however decided that these facilities should remain open. In August 2010, former Conservative Councillor (now independent) Cllr David Whittaker was charged and later found guilty of engaging in sexual activity in the toilets. Cllr Whittaker has denied the accusations and has said he would appeal against the convictions.
