Summary
[edit]DescriptionCarcinosarcoma - 2 - very high mag.jpg |
English: Very high magnification micrograph of a carcinosarcoma. Carcinosarcoma is also known as malignant mixed müllerian tumour, and abbreviated MMMT. MMMT may be spelled malignant mixed muellerian tumour, malignant mixed mullerian tumour, malignant mixed muellerian tumor, and malignant mixed mullerian tumor. MMMT is a rare malignant tumour, i.e. cancer, that can be found in the ovary, uterus and uterine tubes.
Histomorphologically, there are malignant epithelial and mesenchymal elements. However, it is thought that these tumours probably represent carcinomas with metaplastic elements, as (1) the metastases are carcinomas and, (2) the immunohistochemical features suggest an epithelial origin of the mesenchymal elements.[1][2] Related images
