Description

11 Battalion, Border Regiment

Captain Brown served with XI (Lonsdale) Battalion. Aged 29, he was reported missing, believed wounded in the leg, in front of the Leipzig Redoubt on 1 July 1916 at the start of the Battle of the Somme.

He was subsequently confirmed as killed in action and is buried at Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuille.
