English: Rick Hansen (a civilian who is the Honorary Colonel for the Joint Personnel Support Unit) and Captain Simon Mailloux had co-emcee duties yesterday; at the National Day of Honour Ceremony on Parliament Hill. Marking the end of the military mission in Afghanistan. I think Rick's story is well known to most Canadians. Capt Mailloux was injured by an IED in Afghanistan, in 2007, had a leg amputated, went through recovery with a prosthetic, got back to deployable status and redeployed as a combatant in 2009. To steal a term from my US friends "Hooah!" |
