Description
English: The structure of Christ Church is supported by marble columns, with a selection of different designs for the capitals. This close-up view reveals two rather forbidding grotesques lurking within the design. I wonder how many churchgoers have ever noticed them? Probably representing the Green Man, a folk figure representing spring and growth that was appropriated by the Christian church.
