Ver mas fotos de Burgos aqui : imagenesdeburgos.blogspot.com/ Sacristía Mayor Encajonada entre el lado meridional de la girola, la Capilla de San Juan Bautista y Santiago, la galería septentrional del claustro bajo y la Capilla de San Enrique se encuentra la Sacristía Mayor de la Catedral, a la que se ingresa por un vestíbulo o antesacristía desde la nave. Se trata de un espacio casi circular construido entre 1762 y 1765 en estilo barroco rococó siguiendo planos del jerónimo Fray Antonio de San José Pontones. La arquitectura con cúpula elíptica de seis gajos y linterna así como la abigarrada decoración con yeserías, dedicadas al tema de la Coronación de la Virgen como Reina del Cielo, se deben al maestro carmelita fray José de San Juan de la Cruz. La policromía es posterior, de 1870. El fastuoso mobiliario, integrado por cajonería, retablos sin dorar, tallas y cuadros, constituye igualmente un exponente del barroco final del siglo XVIII. Rococó por los cuatro costados, esta sacristía fue objeto de duras críticas por el académico neoclásico Antonio Ponz. |
