Description Cape Forchu, Yarmouth, built c.1839, Nova Scotia, Canada. These lenses were used to magnify the flame lights to guide, warn & ward off mariners from dangerous shorelines . they were well made optical wonders and this one is out of a light 7 or so kilometers from Yarmouth which has been replaced with modern "brilliance". the bronze armature for thisstructure of glass is amazing. note; this lens is perched on a steel stand approximately six feet in height so one can walk under it.
