Now this species is classified as endangered by IUCN tue. In the National Park of the West Coast one of the last breeding colonies of this species can be found, along with other threatened species of cormorants like Cormor?n Coronado or Cormor?n of the Bank, also endemic of the West Coast of Southern Africa.
