Summary
[edit]DescriptionCaos Dhahar Rajamala.jpg |
English: Rajamala is a Javanese version of the Mahabarata puppet character depicted in the form of a giant knight. This character is known as a strong figure, especially when in the water. This then became the background for the Keraton Kasunanan Surakarta through Pakubuwana V in giving the name of his masterpiece in the form of a giant boat as "Baita Kyai Rajamala". The hope is of course that Kyai Rajamala's boat can triumph in the water (Bengawan Solo River) just like Rajamala's supernatural powers when Jagalabilawa's arrow is able to come back to life after falling into the water of life. However, until now the remaining artifacts from the boat are the canthik, oars, and anchor which are still stored in the Keraton Kasunanan Surakarta Museum and Radya Pustaka Museum. Every Tuesday the Kliwon canthik is given offerings in the form of setaman flowers, coffee, and dripping srabi with coconut milk and broth. The purpose of giving the offerings is to honor the canthik boat guard, as is believed by most people, especially the relatives and courtiers of the Keraton Kasunanan Surakarta. |
