Summary

English: Canso (Hart Island) Lighthouse.
The first lighthouse was built on Hart Island in 1872. It was a white, square wooden tower, 8.5m (28ft) high, with a keeper's dwelling attached. This lighthouse was replaced in 1929 with the present one, a square wood tower attached to a one story wooden fog signal building. The red iron lantern has been removed, the tower is approximately 10m (33ft) high. It is also called Hart Island Light and was deactivated around 1960. To the right and left of the building are shell towers that are range lights. |
