Hawesville, Ky. -- American Municipal Power (AMP) is constructing a hydropower facility on the Army Corps of Engineers Cannelton dam, on the Kentucky side. When complete, the power will be fed through the grid for the public and businesses to utilize. The Army Corps of Engineers' role in the project is to ensure the integrity of the dam while construction is underway and when the project is complete. The Corps also works with AMP through the permit process with FERC Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Carol Labashosky) |
