| Description | There is a canal and a walking/ cycling track behind the erstwhile Union Station, probably running along what might once have been train tracks. The canal too is probably the Rideau Canal itself. Imagine how nice it might have been to ride by train along the Rideau Canal and disembark in the grand Union station! I really hate to see trains decline like that. Fortunately however, trains still run out of Ottawa and a modern new station is located at the other end of town. We also saw the remnants of a railway tunnel not far away, close to the old Union terminal. There was supposed to be a photographic museum in that tunnel, but it was closed when we visited. (Ottawa, Canada, June 2015) |
