Summary

[edit]
Description LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST (June 22, 2017) -- California condor chick #871 at seventy days old. Biologists with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and The Santa Barbara Zoo went in search of the chick January 2, 2018 after the Thomas Fire came close to the chick's nest. Biologists were able to get a visual on the bird, and though she has some singed wingtips, seems to be in good health. Both parents, California condors #206 & #513 continue to care for the chick, and biologists will monitor the bird’s progress as it joins the Southern California flock of wild condors. Photo by USFWS.
