Summary

[edit]
Description LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST (January 2, 2018) -- California condor #206 flies near the Devils Gate nest. Biologists with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and The Santa Barbara Zoo went in search of California condor chick #871 after the Thomas Fire came close to the chick's nest. Biologists were able to get a visual on the bird, and though she has some singed wingtips, seems to be in good health. Both parents, California condors #206 & #513 continue to care for the chick, and biologists will monitor the bird’s progress as it joins the Southern California flock of wild condors.
