| Description |
English: Calcutta Pit headgear and engine house. Looking north from the Ivanhoe Way to Calcutta Pit headgear and engine house - see 675689 and 906693. The Calcutta pumping engine installed here in 1877 was made by Robert Stephenson and Co. at a cost of £13,000. It was capable of removing 54,000 gallons an hour to keep local mines dry and worked until 1947. The engine house is a listed building.
