Description |
Nederlands: De Januskop komt zeer zelden voor. Deze wordt in verband gebracht met de geboorte van tweelingen, die buitengewone en dubbele krachten bezitten. Ook zijn ze symbool van alziendheid, dus almachtig. Zo'n januskop wordt wel de 'leider der maskers' genoemd (Mato 1990: 24-25).
Dit masker vertoont geen verkleuringen aan de binnenzijde die op gebruik wijzen. De aanvretingen wijzen ook geenszins op ouderdom of gebruik. Tegenwoordig (1990) maken de houtsnijders de maskers niet alleen meer op bestelling, maar al van tevoren, waarna ze deze proberen te verkopen (aan toeristen). |
