Description
English: Medieval book clasp made up of two parts hinged together. The strap is a sheet of copper alloy 40mm long and folded over in half. Two rivets at the end to hold the strap. The fold of the strap acts as a hinge for the 'eye' part of the object. Cast and circular in plan, 10mm in diameter, and attached to the strap with a rectangular slot, with a circular hole in the centre. A sub-oval segment, 6mm long with central hole, is fixed onto the end of the object, perpendicular to the large circle.
