Description
Español: La Catedral de Santa María la Mayor de Cuenca comenzó su construcción durante el reinado de Alfonso VIII en el año 1196, una vez que la ciudad fue reconquistada a los musulmanes en 1177 y se erigió aprovechando una antigua mezquita árabe. El edificio es de estilo gótico, con influencias francesas traídas por la esposa de Alfonso VIII, Dª. Leonor de Inglaterra o Plantagenet, siendo la primera iglesia, junto con la de Ávila, de este estilo que se construía en Castilla.
